Ruben Neves returned to the Wolves starting lineup on Tuesday night, and showed exactly why Newcastle United are interested in signing him.
The Newcastle target played a vital role in Wolves beating Crystal Palace 2-0, as they picked up the win that should guarantee them survival. He set up the opener from a corner, then put the result beyond doubt with a late penalty.
Captain Neves was back in the midfield after suspension and a brief spell on the bench, and proved why he is going to cost someone a lot of money this summer.
It looks certain that the 26-year-old is going to leave Molineux, with a fee of £40million being rumoured. Wolves are anticipating his departure, with people at the club believing he deserves to be in the Champions League.
That could be where Newcastle are heading, and the Magpies have been linked with a summer move for the midfielder. It has been claimed that Eddie Howe is a fan of Neves, rating his passing and shooting ability very highly.

Toon legend Alan Shearer is also a fan too, and was blown away with his performance on Tuesday night.
Alan Shearer hails Ruben Neves’ performance against Crystal Palace
Shearer has spoke about Neves’ performance on Wednesday night’s episode of Match Of The Day.
“Neves back in the team – I thought he was the best player on the park last night,” he said.
“Everything he did was superb. His corner in to get the Andersen own goal. It was everything about his game – whether it was tackling, defensive side of the game, or the passing range.
“When you give him enough time on the ball like that in that quarter-back position he can hurt you with those passes and he did that.”

Exactly what Newcastle are looking for
Shearer is full of praise for Neves, and the qualities that he highlighted are exactly what Newcastle are looking for.
Howe wants to sign a midfielder this summer – ideally someone who can play in the number six role to free up Bruno Guimaraes further up the pitch.
Whoever plays that role will need to be defensively astute enough to protect the defence, as well as boasting a strong passing range to progress the ball up the pitch.
Neves showed he can do exactly that on Tuesday night, while he also has the ability to do the spectacular. His long range shooting is up their with the best in the Premier League.
Newcastle have plenty of midfield targets heading into the summer, and Neves has just proven exactly why he is in the conversation. If he does join the Magpies, it will certainly get Shearer’s seal of approval.
