Newcastle United have stumbled across a winning formula of late.

Indeed, after a mixed start to the season, Eddie Howe has shifted things around to great success.

Newcastle are now flying both in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup. Seven consecutive victories heading into Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Bromley have raised hope of another successful season under the Newcastle United manager.

Sandro Tonali’s move to the No.6 position has brought stability to the midfield, allowing Bruno Guimaraes to bomb further forward.

Dan Burn has been a rock in central defence, while Martin Dubravka has been so good in goal that the club have reportedly offered him a new deal to stop him leaving this month.

Alexander Isak, meanwhile, is in flying form right now.

It’s all going very well for Newcastle, so Howe will no doubt be wary about changing things – other than for the game against Bromley.

Quite where that leaves Harvey Barnes, however, remains to be seen.

The forward has scored five goals in six Premier League starts this season but just cannot get a look in on the left-hand side, with Anthony Gordon quite the player to overcome.

Now, Howe has provided an update.

Eddie Howe confirms Newcastle stance on Harvey Barnes future

Last month, The Telegraph suggested Barnes was frustrated by his lack of minutes.

Asked about the former Leicester star before Sunday’s game with Bromley, Howe said (via The Northern Echo): “When he’s played this season, especially as a substitute, I think that he’s been fantastic for us and scored some vital goals and made some big contributions to us winning or drawing games.

“I really respect him as a player and as a person. He’s been really great around the group, he’s a vital player for us.”

How much would Newcastle United star Harvey Barnes cost?

It’d be a shame to lose Barnes, who has certainly proven a capable goalscorer when called upon.

However, the club may need to sell to buy and perhaps allowing their back-up left-winger to go for reasonably big money makes financial sense, even if football logic suggests he should stay.

Earlier this month, The Telegraph in fact revealed Newcastle would be looking for around £45million for Barnes if they were to sell him this month.
