Newcastle United could still sell winger Ryan Fraser before the transfer window shuts at 11pm tonight.
That’s according to Newcastle World journalist Jordan Cronin.
The 28-year-old was not included in Eddie Howe’s matchday squad to face Southampton in the Carabao Cup tonight.
Noticing the Scotsman’s absence, the reporter has thus suggested Fraser could be looking to leave the club in the final few hours of the window.
According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Toon are in negotiations with Championship outfit Hull City over a last-ditch move for the attacker.
Fraser could leave for Hull
Having joined Newcastle on a free transfer in 2020, Fraser has since made 59 appearances for the club, during which he has scored three goals and produced six assists.
Despite this, the Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order at St James’ Park this season.
Thus far this term, he has made just eight appearances for the club – all of which have come in the Premier League. Furthermore, only three of these have come from the starting XI.
Following the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Everton, the 28-year-old is seen as surplus to requirements on Tyneside.
Although he could be a good option for squad depth, Fraser will only receive very few minutes on the pitch.
Therefore, it is only fair to let the winger move in search of first-team football elsewhere.
This one will go down to the wire.
