According to Times reporter Martyn Ziegler, there is a hold up announcing the Newcastle United takeover.
After a huge breakthrough on Wednesday, fans have been expecting official confirmation of the deal all day.
Multiple outlets have reported that an announcement is expected today. According to Ziegler, that is still the case despite ‘a bit of red tape’ delaying proceedings.
It is unknown what is causing the delay, but as we wait for an announcement, fans are gathering outside of St James’ Park.
Supporters have been desperate for change for a long, long time, and it finally looks like we will get it…even if we have to wait a little bit longer.

This saga has already gone on for more than a year, so what is an extra few hours? It was back in April 2020 when Amanda Staveley and co first agreed a deal with Mike Ashley.
Since then it’s been tough for Toon fans, who have seen their club stagnate in a state of limbo.
There’s been legal proceedings, protests and government involvement. For a lot of people, this deal was dead. There was no chance it would resurrected.
But here we are, simply awaiting an announcement from the club.

It’s been a dramatic 24 hours for Toon fans, who are just desperate for a conclusion.
The Times reporter Ziegler states that an announcement is still expected today, but his claim of a hold up has certainly caused some panic among fans.
