Mike Ashley is busy clearing his desk at Newcastle and the supporters are preparing to host a party to eclipse everything that has come before it.
It would appear as though another club are prepared to take the Sports Direct bigwig with open arms though.
Derby County are in a real pickle. The club is currently being run on a day-to-day basis by administrators and were recently docked 12 points.
Further charges are coming from the EFL too. Mel Morris gambled big and now the Rams are paying a hefty price.
Wayne Rooney is facing a thankless task to revive the club’s fortunes. His team have just two points and are currently seven points adrift of safety.
It’s a sad state of affairs for Derby, although they aren’t actually in bad form. Rooney has overseen three wins and five draws from the team’s 11 games so far.
Another nine-point deduction would almost certainly end their stay in the Championship and it’s a worrying time for the club.
Ashley has been at Newcastle since 2007 and his time at the club has seen supporters constantly battle to get him out of St James’ Park.
The man 61st on the Sunday Times Rich List in 2021 now looks set to leave and Rams fans are excited.
What have Derby fans said about Ashley leaving Newcastle?
Derby fans are seriously growing desperate if they fancy Ashley. It seems, however, as though plenty would be keen to see him dip his hand into his pocket.
Sports Direct HQ is based in Derbyshire and the Rams faithful think that makes Ashley a realistic option.
Ashley’s time at Newcastle hasn’t really gone according to plan and as a result, their supporters are glad to see the back of him.
Derby wouldn’t mind him though and here is what their fans have been saying on Twitter.
