Newcastle United takeover figure Nick De Marco was present during Wednesday’s CAT hearing.
De Marco is the QC dealing with the club’s arbitration case, as Mike Ashley looks to resurrect last year’s failed Saudi takeover.
The Magpies have two legal challenges – arbitration and the CAT case.
On Wednesday we saw the preliminary CAT hearing, with the panel set to decide whether or not the case goes ahead.

The hearing included Daniel Jowell QC, representing the club, and Adam Lewis QC who is representing the Premier League. Three panellists were also in attendance – The Honourable Mr Justice Miles, Michael Cutting and Tim Frazer.
The sixth man involved was a surprise – Nick De Marco. However, he was denied the chance to speak by the chairman during the afternoon session.
While his input was limited, Toon fans noticed a very subtle touch from De Marco.
The legal maestro was wearing a black and white tie during the hearing, a clear nod to the club he is representing.
Toon fans have grown accustomed to analysing De Marco’s every move, scouring his Twitter posts about bread for clues about the takeover. That’s how desperate things are.

The black and white tie clearly pleased some supporters, and was a bit of fun on what was a very serious day for Newcastle United.
Arbitration could give supporters the takeover they want, and De Marco is the man tasked with delivering the right result.
He’s won Toon fans over with his choice of tie, but can he get the job done when it matters most? We will find out in January.
Newcastle fans love the choice of tie by De Marco
