And one of the key figures behind Newcastle’s arbitration battle is Nick De Marco.
London law firm Blackstone Chambers were hired by Ashley last year, with QCs De Marco and Shaheed Fatima representing the Magpies.
If they can win the arbitration hearing against the Premier League, they will have played a pivotal role in the club’s history.
Since his appointment, De Marco has gained a lot of Newcastle-supporting followers on Twitter, who look for any takeover hint in anything he posts.
His latest tweet is no different. De Marco posted a picture of a book entitled ‘The Code of the Court of Arbitration for Sport’.
This is significant for Toon fans, with Newcastle’s arbitration hearing set to take place this month.
Is De Marco a cryptic tweeter as well as a leading sports lawyer? Probably not, but he will be hailed as a hero if his work leads to a Newcastle United takeover.
