The Newcastle United takeover saga could finally reach a conclusion in January.

That’s the word coming out of today’s CAT hearing, where it was confirmed that arbitration will start on January 3rd 2022.

This is new information, as all we had previously been told was that it would take place early next year after being delayed this summer.

But that’s not the only thing we’ve found out about arbitration.

Adam Lewis QC, who is representing the Premier League, has said that arbitration will run for little more than seven days.

Arbitration will take place to address the separation issues regarding the Saudi state and the Public Investment Fund.

And in the CAT hearing, it has been stated that the takeover will be approved if if the arbitration decides that KSA will not be a director of the club.

This proves that separation is the only issue stopping this deal from going through.

So if arbitration does go our way, a deal could be done in January. It would also give the buyers time in the transfer window to make signings.

That was the Premier League arbiters’ hope in July before it was delayed.

So arbitration will start on January 3rd. It will hopefully take around a week. If it is decided that KSA do not need to be named as a director, the deal will be approved.

Finally, some transparency. And finally a conclusion could be on the horizon.
