Gary Lineker has reacted on Twitter to Newcastle’s takeover being completed.
He responded to a clip from FIFA 22, jokingly showing a team full of superstars.
While that won’t happen overnight, there is now money to spend and ambition to go with it.
Earlier in the week, he also responded to a Newcastle fan who tweeted about the takeover.
He didn’t give his view, and more recently he retweeted a thread about a previous era in English football when owners weren’t as well known or prominent.
Newcastle’s more realistic transfer targets for January are big names who are disgrunted at elite clubs.
That could be Barcelona or Real Madrid – both of whom could do with the money.
Or it could be Premier League players given their proven track record of doing the business in English football.
Perhaps the most important decision to make is who the manager will be, and Steve Bruce’s days look numbered.
