Bobby Robson
Sir Bobby Robson is hailed as a hero by Newcastle United fans.
Becoming manager in 1999, the Durham-born manager took Newcastle from probable relegation to Champions League football in 18 months.
Robson gave Newcastle fans some of the best days in the club’s history, with iconic wins in the Premier League and memorable moments in Europe, including their 2003/04 UEFA Cup run to the semi-finals and Champions League campaigns.
Hailed by Alan Shearer as the man who saved his career, it took years for the Magpies to find a manager who understood the club and the city like Robson; his influence was simply unmatched.
Robson also had iconic spells in charge of Ipswich Town, England, Barcelona, Porto and PSV Eindhoven and won many trophies over his storied career.
He died aged 76 in 2009.
