Newcastle United have just announced some post-season plans for immediately after the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

The Magpies’ final competitive game of the season is away to Brentford in the Premier League on May 19th, and that should be the end of their club commitments until pre-season begins.

However, it has now been confirmed that Newcastle United will travel to Australia for two friendlies after the current campaign comes to an end, with Eddie Howe‘s side set to take on Tottenham Hotspur and the A-League All Stars in Melbourne.

The trip is obviously for commercial reasons, but it seems incredibly harsh on the Toon players. They have endured a gruelling season, yet now they are being asked to travel to the other side of the world to play even more football.

It is a strange decision, but one that a certain member of the Newcastle United team will be delighted about.

Garang Kuol should be involved for Newcastle In Australia

Australia is a long way away for the Magpies, but it is home for Garang Kuol.

The 19-year-old joined Newcastle from Central Coast Mariners last year, while he is also a full Australia international.

There is a huge amount of hype surrounding Kuol, although it has dipped slightly given his loan struggles away from Tyneside. A second loan spell is going awry for the teenager, who is yet to make his Newcastle United debut.

But hopefully that changes this summer. These games in Australia might be seen as an inconvenience, but it could be the perfect chance for Kuol to make his first appearance in Toon colours.

The trip is obviously for commercial reasons, but it could be a bit of a homecoming for the attacker. It is a chance to integrate him into the Newcastle squad, and for Eddie Howe to get a closer look at him.

It could also be a bit of a coming of age moment for Kuol when Newcastle face the A-League All Stars. He was part of the team in 2022, when they faced Barcelona. He was only 16, but made a real impression.

Two years on, he could be against them in the black and white of Newcastle, and you have to imagine he will be desperate to be involved.
