Newcastle United duo Fabian Schar and Jonjo Shelvey have both shown they are deserving of contract extensions at the club.
The pair were both a part of yesterday’s huge 2-0 win over Brentford in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s men recorded another fantastic result, and are now unbeaten in their last seven games.
Joelinton grabbed the first goal after a great cross from Ryan Fraser. Joe Willock then struck in the second-half to ensure all three points for the visitors.
Newcastle are in a great moment now after tough times earlier in the season.
Howe has the team playing with confidence, and several individuals have seriously stepped up their games in recent weeks.
Schar and Shelvey are two such cases, and the pair have made big contributions to Newcastle pulling four points clear of the relegation zone. Of course, there is still a long way to go this season.

But yesterday, Shelvey ran the game for Newcastle.
Obviously, the Bees going down to 10 men helped the Magpies have more control in the game. But it was a really impressive outing nonetheless from the 30-year-old. The Chronicle said it was ‘a captain’s display’, from a player looking ‘international level’ again.
He completed 57/65 passes (88%), and also had 73 touches – the fifth-most in the game (via Sofascore).
Schar was also ‘immense’ as stated by the Chronicle. It was brilliant to watch his role in Willock’s goal. Schar has shown previously he has the capability to surge forward, a trait that can be extremely rewarding.
Recently there was a report claiming Shelvey and Schar are both set for contract extensions at the club. After yesterday, and also the past few weeks, it is clear that both deserve one.
Newcastle have got to hand both Shelvey and Schar a contract extension
It is likely Newcastle will be spending heavily in the summer.
The team will likely look very different ahead of the 2022/23 season, but Shelvey and Schar both deserve to have their contracts extended.
They have responded remarkably to Howe’s arrival.

Both have shown what brilliant players they actually are under this manager. They both got lost under Steve Bruce, and it’s clear they have the quality to stick around.
It is especially important for Schar to be given fresh terms. The Switzerland international stands to leave as a free agent at the end of the season, whereas Shelvey’s current deal expires next summer.
Perhaps neither will be ultimately be a regular starter next term. But they are good players to keep, if anything to aid with the transition period for the influx of new players.
