Real Madrid signing Aurelien Tchouameni is good news for Newcastle United

Real Madrid are on the brink of a huge transfer that could actually help Newcastle United.

The Guardian report that Los Blancos have agreed an £85million deal to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco.

The French midfielder has been heavily linked with a move this summer, with Liverpool seemingly keen on his signature.

But Tchouameni is heading to the Bernabeu, and that is news that should delight Toon fans.

Real Madrid signing Aurelien Tchouameni should put them off Bruno

Real have arguably the best midfield trio in the world in Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos. They are all incredible players, but they’re also getting on a bit.

The Spanish side need to start making plans for the future, which is why they signed teenage sensation Eduardo Camavinga last year. They also have Federico Valverde, who is only 23.

But they have been linked with a move for a third midfielder, which brings us to the North East.

AS reported in April that Real Madrid are keen to sign Bruno Guimaraes in 2023 after the upcoming World Cup.

While it was only a tentative rumour, it was certainly cause for concern for Toon fans. While Bruno is having a great time at Newcastle, how could he possibly turn down Real Madrid?

However, now he might not have to. Tchouameni will fill the role that they were eyeing Bruno up for. That means Newcastle supporters don’t need to worry about losing their Brazilian superstar so soon after his arrival.

But talk of a move to Madrid is an eye opener. It’s a testament to how good the 24-year-old is. We are incredibly lucky to have him right now. If anything, he’s far too good for the current incarnation of Newcastle.

We are going in the right direction though, and will hopefully continue to progress in the coming years.

That progression will be key to attract more big names to SJP, and it will also be vital in keeping our current stars like Bruno at the club.
