According to reports, Newcastle United want two players with the same name – Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona and Moussa Dembele from Lyon.
The French stars are two examples of the incredible talent we’ve been linked with since October’s Saudi-backed takeover was finalised.
We’ve gone to a completely new level, with wealth beyond our wildest dreams. It’s led to fanciful rumours and outrageous links from all over the world.

Nothing sums that up more than the two Dembeles. While they’re both incredibly talented players, only one of them feels attainable – and even that’s a stretch.
Regardless, Newcastle and PIF should only be targeting one Dembele – Moussa.
Moussa Dembele could be perfect for Newcastle
Despite Callum Wilson’s incredible talents, we’re still light in attack.

The number nine doesn’t have a great track record with injuries, already missing some football this season with a thigh problem.
Newcastle rely heavily on Wilson for goals, and he needs someone to share the burden. That’s why Moussa Dembele would be a brilliant addition.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are interested in signing the 25-year-old from Lyon.
He’s the kind of striker we should be targeting. He’s young but experienced, and could form a devastating partnership with Wilson. He could also play up top on his own if Wilson was unavailable.

He is the calibre of player we should be targeting. Our newfound wealth will allow us to attract better players, despite our precarious position.
But as for the other Dembele, he is an even better player. But a player we should avoid.
Ousmane Dembele is a fantasy signing that Newcastle should avoid
According to Foot Mercato, the Magpies have opened negotiations with Ousmane Dembele, whose Barcelona contract expires in the summer of 2022.

The 24-year-old was involved in one of the biggest transfers in the history of the game, costing Barca an initial £96.8million. The deal had the potential to rise to £135.5million.
He’d be a blockbuster signing for Newcastle – a real landmark arrival. You just know shirt sales would soar if he arrived at St James’ Park. PIF want to take the Magpies to the top, and to do that you need the best players. Ousmane Dembele would fall into that category.
But that doesn’t mean a move for the 2018 World Cup winner would be wise.
Throughout his Barcelona career, Dembele has suffered with injury problems. It’s rendered him a waste of money. The big time signing hasn’t worked out, with the winger unable to put a consistent string of games together.

And that’s why Newcastle should resist temptation to make Dembele their blockbuster signing.
While he could be sensational, he could also be a disaster. If Dembele joins Newcastle and his injury woes continue, it would be a seriously embarrassing blunder by PIF.
Newcastle want two Dembeles, but Moussa is the only one they should seriously pursue.
