Jose Mourinho is a name that has been linked with Newcastle United ever since the first rumours about the takeover hit mainstream media.
As one of the most successful managers in football, it’s no surprise to see him linked to the richest club in the world, but Newcastle are on a very different path with Eddie Howe at the helm.
Howe has spoiled Newcastle fans in every sense. Not only was the club very successful in qualifying for the Champions League last season, but the did so while playing some very attractive and aggressive football.
With the owners placing their complete faith in the former Bournemouth man despite losing eight of their last 10 games, it would be strange to see them make a sudden move for Mourinho and one that Newcastle fans on social media would be completely against.
Mourinho proves time and time again his days are over
In the last three jobs he has taken, Mourinho has left the club’s in relative disarray having fallen out with either the players, the fans or the hierarchy, or perhaps all three at times.
His style of football, while very successful in the past, just doesn’t work as effectively in the modern era with teams now looking to attack from the front and play a more expansive style.
For Newcastle, who have huge ambitions of reaching the top of world football, they shouldn’t be looking to the past ton find someone to take them into a brighter future, they already have a young and exciting manager in Howe.
Mourinho simply isn’t the coach he used to be and he’s not someone to take on a long-term project, he’s more of an immediate success type of manager which really doesn’t suit Newcastle’s owners plans.
To completely scrap everything that Howe has built at St James’ Park and go in the opposite direction with Mourinho would be a bizarre decision and one that the owners have given no indication they would ever make.

Newcastle fans are against a move for Mourinho
With the news only just breaking about Mourinho’s departure from Roma, it’s only a matter of time before the media once again start asking questions about whether or not he should be brought into Newcastle.
Supporters have certainly made their feelings known on social media with a number of users hoping that they stick with Howe for the long-term.
“If we made that change, it would be a disaster,” wrote one user.
“Here come all the José Mourinho rumours, but for me I’m all in with Eddie Howe,” a second user wrote.
“the last thing we want is Mourinho coming into the club and unsettling it. Then costing us a fortune when it doesn’t work out. Full trust in Eddie,” a third added.
“Jose sacked. I pray our lot hold their nerve with Eddie Howe,” another wrote.
A fifth and final user wrote: “I’d be absolutely gutted if Howe left the Toon and I’d be even more gutted if Mourinho came anywhere near the club.”
Although they may be slipping down the Premier League table, it’s fair to say that Newcastle supporters are all in on Howe and the very last thing they’d want right now is a complete change of direction with Mourinho.
