Newcastle presented the perfect chance to sign attacker who Jude Bellingham says can be unstoppable

Newcastle United are trying to sign Anthony Elanga, but the timing could be all wrong.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that Nottingham Forest do not want to sell Anthony Elanga and have rejected the Magpies’ opening offer of £45million.

Newcastle look set to make a new Elanga offer, but it is difficult to envision an agreement being reached due to Forest’s £60m+ asking price. Therefore, Eddie Howe may have to look further down his list of alternatives.

Karim Adeyemi is on Newcastle’s radar, and he could be much more attainable right now.

Why now is a good time for Newcastle United to buy Karim Adeyemi

Newcastle United are admirers of Adeyemi, and they have picked the right time to make a move for the Borussia Dortmund forward if they decide to firm up their interest.

That is because the 23-year-old is now in the final two years of his Borussia Dortmund contract. Therefore, this summer is the Bundesliga giants’ best chance to get a good fee for Adeyemi.

If they wait until 2026, they will have to sell him at a reduced price or risk losing him on a free transfer in 2027. Unless they have ambitions of keeping him and extending his contract, now is the time for Dortmund to move Adeyemi on.

In Newcastle United, they could find a very willing buyer.

What Jude Bellingham has said about Newcastle United target Karim Adeyemi

Adeyemi would be an exciting addition to the Newcastle United squad.

He is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line, while his speed and dribbling ability would allow him to light up St James’ Park. That is something he has already done, having played against the Magpies in the Champions League during the 2023/24 season.

Newcastle saw exactly how difficult Adeyemi is to handle, while Jude Bellingham’s comments about his former teammate sum up why the Germany international is the type of player that Howe needs in his team.

After Adeyemi scored against Chelsea in the Champions League in 2023, Bellingham told TalkSPORT: “We are really confident when he gets the ball one-on-one. Not many players can stop him. He had a tough time coming here at the start – finding his feet – and now he’s flying.”

That kind of dribbling ability would make Adeyemi a fan favourite on Tyneside, and it will be interesting to see whether Newcastle United formalise their interest in him if their Elanga pursuit collapses.
