Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Samuel Iling-Junior this summer, as the club continue to look towards the future.
Iling-Junior is just 19-years-old, and is currently playing for Juventus after moving from Chelsea in 2020.
However, the London born winger could soon be on his way back to England. 90min have reported that Newcastle, Manchester City and the aforementioned Chelsea are keen to sign Iling-Junior ahead of next season.
He took a huge risk in moving to Italy as a teenager, and it has resulted in him playing in Serie A and the Champions League for one of the most famous clubs in the world. But his Juventus career could be coming to an end, as Newcastle look to get him to swap one black and white shirt for another.
Newcastle already have Garang Kuol
A deal for Iling-Junior would make him the second teenage winger who Newcastle have signed this year. Dan Ashworth has already completed a deal for Garang Kuol, who arrived from Central Coast Mariners.
The 18-year-old is one of the highest rated young players in world football, and his future belongs on Tyneside. He has already announced himself to the world stage, representing Australia at the World Cup. He has now scored his first Socceroos goal, finding the net in a friendly win over Ecuador.
Newcastle fans have extremely high hopes for Kuol, who will hopefully go on to become a Premier League star. If he achieves his potential, he could still be flying down the right wing at St James’ Park in 10 years’ time.
And he could be joined by Iling-Junior.
Newcastle could have Iling-Junior on one wing and Kuol on the other
He is equally as exciting, and actually has a lot more senior experience than Kuol. He has played his fair share of football under Max Allegri this season, including one appearance in the Champions League.
The left-winger came off the bench against Benfica, and provided an assist in the 4-3 defeat. He was described as ‘extraordinary‘ by the Italian press after the game.
Iling-Junior plays like an old school winger, driving at his man before picking out a teammate in the box. He has incredible balance when in possession, while he also has an eye for goal. Standing at 6ft tall, he can also be an aerial threat too.
If Newcastle were to sign him, it would mean that the club have a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old winger with extremely high ceilings. If they live up to their potential, they could be playing alongside each other at Newcastle still in 2033.
That is a long time in the future, but it is what Dan Ashworth is planning for. He is looking years ahead with his signings, and Iling-Junior is another young prospect that he wants to bring to St James’ Park.
