Javi Manquillo, you have been missed. That’s something I never thought I’d say.
But the Spaniard has been an unsung hero this season, keeping some of the league’s finest wingers quiet, from Raheem Sterling to Wilfried Zaha.
However, we haven’t seen the right-back since January 1st.
Manquillo limped off against Leicester, on a day where Newcastle actually lost four players to injury.
Since then a variety of players have played in Manquillo’s position, but no one has looked as convincing as the former Liverpool man.
Valentino Lazaro was the most recent to play on the right of defence, but the Austrian is now suspended.
And with Steve Bruce set to be forced into a change at the back, Toon fans want Manquillo to play his first game in nearly two months.
It’ll be a toss up between him and DeAndre Yedlin. The American hasn’t featured in the league since the 0-0 draw with Norwich, where he was heavily criticised for his delivery.
But will Bruce risk throwing Manquillo straight back into the starting XI after so long out? These fans certainly hope so.
