Newcastle United were yesterday linked with a move for Marcus Rashford.

Apparently the Magpies are one of a few teams ready to potentially make a move for the Manchester United attacker.

Rashford is reportedly now considering his future at Old Trafford (Telegraph).

Apparently he is concerned about the amount of game time he is currently getting.

In 2022, Rashford has only started two Premier League games so far. He’s been a substitute for the last four games, and didn’t even get on against Leeds United.

He hasn’t actually managed 90 minutes once this calendar year, and the emergence of Anthony Elanga has impacted him.

Rashford has not been having a very good season at all.

The star seems to have lost his way and at times hasn’t looked happy on the pitch.

He appears to be really short of confidence right now, which is a shame to see.

It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will actually try and force his exit from his boyhood club this summer. That would certainly be a big story.

Newcastle being linked with the England international is interesting.

Without doubt, the Magpies will bolster their attack this summer. Dwight Gayle will more than likely leave, which will leave just Callum Wilson and Chris Wood as the striker options.

He may be in really poor form right now, but Newcastle making a move for Rashford this summer is not as crazy an idea as it seems.

Eddie Howe could help Marcus Rashford to flourish again, as Newcastle eye England star

You only need to look at the effect Howe has already had on many of the players in Newcastle’s squad.

He’s really helped some individuals whose confidence was low to shine again. The likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Willock, Joelinton, Ryan Fraser, Jacob Murphy, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth have all had positive responses to Howe’s arrival.

Rashford seems to need an arm around his shoulder at the moment.

He needs to get out of Old Trafford, which is just drenched in toxicity right now.

He should looked to begin a fresh start, and Newcastle could be a really good next move for him. The fans would get right behind him and stay with him in times of hardship.

Rashford has enjoyed a brilliant career so far, scoring 93 goals and making 58 assists in 295 games for Manchester United.

There is a good player still in there, and Howe might just be the one to help him emerge again.
