Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on how the Marcus Rashford’s situation plays out at Manchester United, claim 90min.
With the Red Devils licking their wounds following the 4-1 humiliation they suffered against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday, Rashford has dropped a huge bombshell.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old is considering his future at Old Trafford due to his concerns surrounding the lack of game time he’s receiving under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
Rashford’s current contract at Manchester United expires next summer, but the Red Devils have the option of triggering a one-year extension to his deal.
Manchester United’s number 10 has started just two of the last 11 Premier League games and with both Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo unavailable for the trip to Pep Guardiola’s side, Rangnick started Rashford, United’s only recognised striker, on the bench.
The German instead opted to play with a false number nine and brought on Rashford alongside Jesse Lingard in the 64th minute when United were trailing 2-1.
The forlorn England international failed to change the game and cut a frustrated and downcast figure.

Rashford’s long-term future at the club will likely be decided by whoever Manchester United’s next permanent manager is, and Rangnick will move upstairs into a consultancy role that he will fulfil for two years.
Alongside Atletico Madrid, Arsenal and West Ham United, the Magpies are also monitoring how Rashford’s situation at Manchester United plays out, according to 90min.
Rashford’s situation will become clearer in the coming months, but his camp leaking this news via Romano is a clear indicator of how frustrated he is currently.
Going public and voicing his disapproval may have caught PIF’s attention.

Playing under such a wonderful man-manager in Eddie Howe could help propel Rashford back to his former devastating form.
He would be quite the statement signing for the Saudi-led consortium, but at this stage the Toon Army need to take the Rashford situation with a pinch of salt.
With the likes of Paul Pogba, Lingard, Cavani and even potentially Ronaldo all leaving in the summer, Marcus Rashford could quickly become the main man at the Theatre of Dreams once again.
However, if the Manchester United academy graduate does decide to call time on his chapter at the M16-based club, Newcastle will no doubt be ready to strike.
