The rumours surrounding Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle United refuse to go away, but the Magpies’ position might suddenly be even stronger.
With Hugo Ekitike going to Liverpool, the expectation was that the speculation regarding Alexander Isak would die down.
That has not proven to be the case. If anything, it has intensified after Isak missed Newcastle’s friendly vs Celtic. Eddie Howe opted to send the striker home, as the club manage his minutes and attempt to keep him out of the firing line.
The plan remains the same. Newcastle will not sell Isak, and Liverpool are about to do something that should be celebrated on Tyneside.

How much Liverpool are paying for Hugo Ekitike
While the Isak to Liverpool rumours are not going away despite Ekitike’s looming arrival at Anfield, the fee that the Reds are going to pay for him should only embolden the Magpies further.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have agreed an initial fee with Eintracht Frankfurt of £69million.
There will then be add-ons on top of that fee, with Sky Sports claiming that the Ekitike deal could be worth £78million in total.
That is a huge sum of money that should only make Isak more valuable to Newcastle United.
Newcastle United can now demand even more money for Alexander Isak
There have been suggestions that Liverpool want Isak for £120million. Is the 25-year-old really only worth around £40million more than Ekitike?!
Isak is a proven Premier League talent, having scored more than 20 goals in back-to-back seasons. During his time with Newcastle United, he has scored 62 goals in 109 games.
In comparison, Ekitike is on the back of his only ever 20-goal season. He netted 22 goals in 48 appearances for Frankfurt.
While Ekitike has potential, Isak is already the complete centre-forward. There is simply no way that Isak is only worth £40million more.
Despite Newcastle’s position becoming stronger, the noise will not die down. That will not happen until Isak signs a new contract with Newcastle United, which remains the club’s hope.
