Christian Pulisic interest could trigger Ryan Fraser to leave Newcastle

Ryan Fraser could reportedly leave Newcastle United in January, and fresh interest Christian Pulisic could push him towards the exit at St James’ Park.

It was reported by the Chronicle last week that Fraser has multiple clubs interested in his signature. They stated that Premier League and Championship sides from down south are looking at the Scotland international.

Fraser has not played a lot of football for the Magpies this season. While he excelled at the start of 2022, his form has not carried on into the new season.

Instead, Miguel Almiron is thriving on the right, while Jacob Murphy also appears to be ahead of Fraser in the pecking order.

A move away could be best for the former Bournemouth man, as he heads into what should be his peak years as a footballer.

However, it would be unwise for Newcastle to let him go without having a replacement lined up. Therefore, speculation surrounding Pulisic and the Magpies is very timely.

Christian Pulisic could take Ryan Fraser’s place at Newcastle

The American winger was linked with a move to Newcastle during the summer. He was one of four Chelsea players the Magpies wanted to sign, but in the end none of them joined.

Pulisic was struggling at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, and his fortunes haven’t really changed under Graham Potter. And now he is being linked with a move away once again.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester United will fight it out for the 24-year-old in January.

The £58million player is a man in demand, and could be a perfect fit at St James’ Park. He is the type of player who would excite fans, while he is of an age where he can still get even better.

Pulisic arriving would give us even more quality in attack, and he would be a major improvement on Fraser.

Sadly for the Scot, it hasn’t totally worked out in a black and white shirt. There have been plenty of factors as to why, and the improving quality at Newcastle right now could force him out the door.

If he is to leave, Newcastle need a replacement first. Pulisic would not only be a replacement – he would be an improvement.

Therefore, if Dan Ashworth can work his magic and bring him to Tyneside then it could be the catalyst for Fraser to find a new club.
