Newcastle United fans are eager to see who will be the next young player to emerge from the Toon academy like Lewis Miley.

The 17-year-old has established himself as a Premier League star this season, with Newcastle’s injury crisis giving Lewis Miley an opportunity to show everybody what he is capable of.

Miley is the poster boy for the the Magpies’ academy right now, and the club will hope that more players follow in his footsteps in the coming years.

Since the arrival of Dan Ashworth as Sporting Director, Newcastle have made a real effort to bring in talented teenagers from other clubs, with the hope that they can grow and develop into stars on Tyneside.

And that is the hope for Trevan Sanusi, a 16-year-old winger who put Toon fans on notice with a moment of magic on Monday night.

Trevan Sanusi produces remarkable solo run for Newcastle Under-21s

Newcastle United Under-21s beat Nottingham Forest on Monday night, coming from behind to win 2-1 in the Premier League Cup.

Amadou Diallo, a player who Eddie Howe likes, netted the winner from the spot, but the penalty came from a blistering run by Trevan Sanusi.

The teenager received possession on the halfway line, immediately beating one Forest player with a clever touch. He then drove down the pitch, twisting and turning at speed to leave another Forest player dizzy.

By the time that Sanusi got to the byline and delivered a cross, he was fouled. The referee gave a penalty, which Diallo converted.

It was an absolutely spectacular run from Sanusi, and was reminiscent of what Allan Saint-Maximin used to do in black and white. The Frenchman used to be devastating with his speed and skill, and it looks like the same goes for Sanusi.

At 16, Sanusi looks like a major talent. He arrived from Birmingham City last September, and he is certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming years.
