Newcastle United were dealt a concern about summer signing Yoane Wissa after an injury scare over the international break.
Wissa could make his debut for Newcastle United against Wolves on Saturday, with the DR Congo international far more experienced in the Premier League than fellow new arrival Nick Woltemade.
Despite sitting out of Brentford’s pre-season and their opening 3 league games of the campaign, the 29-year-old showed little sign of ring rust when representing his country earlier this month.
Indeed, Wissa has been in brilliant form for DR Congo in their World Cup qualifiers, scoring in both games while also assisting against South Sudan.
Now, an update on his fitness has emerged.

Yoane Wissa fit to play for Newcastle United against Wolves
According to The Daily Mail, Wissa was checked by Newcastle United’s medical staff ahead of his potential debut.
He was forced off while playing for DR Congo against Senegal earlier this week with an apparent knee issue.
However, after being checked by medical staff on Tyneside, it’s thought that he will be available to feature against Wolves.
Wissa will train with the rest of the Newcastle United squad for the first time on Friday and Eddie Howe will no doubt provide updates at his pre-match press conference.
Yoane Wissa’s record against Wolves
Wissa will be keen to make an immediate impact at Newcastle. Though it’s perhaps unfair to expect that given the disrupted nature of his start to the season, the player is partly to blame for that himself.
Interestingly, while the former Lorient forward has been a prolific Premier League marksman over the last few years, he’s only ever scored one goal against Wolves.
Adding to that tally would be most welcome on Saturday. Wissa needs to hit the ground running, considering Woltemade’s relative lack of experience.
Newcastle paid well over £50million for Wissa for exactly that reason.
