Newcastle United failed to kick on from their first win of the season after Eddie Howe’s side got battered 4-0 at Leicester City.
It was a game in which Callum Wilson cut an isolated figure.
Howe went with the same team that beat Sean Dyche’s Burnley 1-0 last weekend.
A win against Brendan Rodgers’ side would have taken the Magpies level on points with 17th-placed Watford, but instead our goal difference took another hammering.

With our next three clashes coming against Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, Howe is going to have to work his magic on tightening up the league’s leakiest backline.
But the former Cherries manager is also going to have to find a way to get more support to the club’s number nine.
Wilson was on the periphery throughout the clash at the King Power Stadium and he was given next to no ammunition.
Worrying Newcastle stat for Callum Wilson

Coming into the clash with two goals in his last two games, Wilson’s goals have contributed to six of Newcastle’s 10 points so far this season.
But he was unable to replicate his heroics against last season’s FA Cup winners.
Wilson didn’t even get a sniff of goal.
For just the second time this season, the 29-year-old failed to have a shot on goal. The other instance came in Newcastle’s last away game prior to the visit to Leicester against Arsenal.

But in the game against Mikel Arteta’s side, the England international at least managed to complete a dribble, but he couldn’t achieve that on East Midlands.
It was the first time this season that Wilson has failed to register a shot, key pass or dribble, in a Premier League game this season, according to WhoScored.
Newcastle’s only realistic route to safety is going to come via Callum Wilson’s goals. For all of our well-documented defensive issues, Howe also has to find ways to give his talisman more service.
