Wor Flags have found a brilliant way to discard Newcastle United’s leftover Alexander Isak display

In 2024, Wor Flags unveiled a brilliant display for Alexander Isak while he was still a Newcastle United player.

It is fair to say that the fan group has no use for the display now, after the way the summer transfer window went down.

Alexander Isak has left Newcastle United for Liverpool in a deal worth around £125m, a British record transfer fee which only went through on deadline day. Thankfully, the Magpies signed Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa in his place. While the latter is yet to make his debut, there is confidence that the pair can put up the same numbers that Isak did on Tyneside.

It was clear before his move that Isak had lost the trust of the fanbase, having made a statement confirming his intentions to leave, and failing to apologise for the transfer saga after leaving.

Isak was given his own display by Wor Flags last November, but it is clear for now that the flags are no longer needed. Thankfully, the group has found a brilliant place to donate it to.

Wor Flags set to donate Alexander Isak display to Bradford City

On Wednesday, Newcastle beat Bradford City 4-1 to start their defence of the Carabao Cup. They have been rewarded with another home tie, against Tottenham Hotspur. It is a much bigger test for the Magpies, but one which Eddie Howe and his players will surely be ready for.

Wor Flags were out in full force once again against Bradford, with a sea of black and white surrounding St James’ Park ahead of the game.

After the game, a social media post was shared from Bradford City fan group North West Kollektive, stating that a new home has been found for the ‘Alexander the Great’ banner, which was originally for Isak.

The banner will be of great use to Bradford, who appear to have a lot of fondness for manager Graham Alexander, who has been a great addition to the team.

It is yet another brilliant touch of class from the fan group, who have done so much for the club and the surrounding area.

Newcastle United are trying to move on after Alexander Isak’s exit

It is fair to say that Isak is no longer a hero on Tyneside due to the summer transfer saga, even if he scored the winner in the Carabao Cup final and helped the Magpies qualify for the Champions League.

Isak could have been a legend if he had stayed at Newcastle, and the club may have enjoyed a brighter start to the Premier League season if he had been there. Instead, he is now playing for Liverpool, and recently scored his first goal for the club in a Carabao Cup game against Southampton.

With Woltemade and Wissa now at the club, it feels like the beginning of a new era for the Magpies without their star striker.

Newcastle are hopeful that the pair can put up the same number of goals as the Swede this season and beyond, but it may take some time before they are both firing.

Wissa is out with a knee injury, but there is hope that he will be back after the international break in October. Meanwhile, Woltemade has opened his account with Newcastle and has looked bright in other appearances.
