Jonathan Woodgate has taken to Instagram to share his excitement after Eddie Howe was unveiled as Newcastle United’s new manager.
The former Bournemouth manager has now taken two training sessions with the Newcastle team after signing a contract with the Magpies until June 2024.
The 43-year-old held his first press conference as the Magpies’ new boss yesterday and was then seen out on the St James’ Park pitch with the club’s new owners Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

In his first press conference, Howe spoke about his great pride in taking up his new position, but was also under no illusions of the task ahead of him.
Woodgate, who played 37 times for the Toon Army before securing a big-money move to Real Madrid, is delighted with his former club’s appointment.

The 41-year-old had 23 games in charge of Bournemouth himself earlier this year and felt having Howe on Tyneside would get St James’ Park ‘rocking’.

That ‘rocking’ atmosphere will be no doubt be witnessed for the first time when Howe walks out at St James’ Park on November 20th when Thomas Frank’s Brentford come to town.
Following Unai Emery’s U-turn, the Saudi-led consortium moved quickly to bring the former Cherries boss to the club.

Since that moment, Howe has already shown his great desire and commitment to throw himself at his new job by arriving at the training ground before 7am.
His passionate training clips have already added to his popularity and that passion will radiate across to the Geordies, who will have St James’ Park bouncing.
A win against the Bees in Howe’s first game in charge could see the club build some real momentum in our survival bid, and have a number of teams above us anxiously looking over their shoulders.
