Newcastle United fans have the opportunity to take a photo with the real Carabao Cup trophy on Thursday, April 10.

The parties and wild celebrations after Newcastle United’s 70-year wait for a trophy finally came to an end last month have finally subsided.

Eddie Howe’s side celebrated long into the night after defeating Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley before the players jetted off for international duty, but there was time for a parade so the whole city could celebrate together before football returned.

Newcastle have been back to business in their two games since, picking up important wins over Brentford and Leicester City as they chase a Champions League place.

Before long, the Carabao Cup final will be a hazy but beautiful memory, yet Newcastle fans still have the chance to revel in it one last time and get their own hands on the trophy today.

Carabao Cup photo opportunity moved

Newcastle have confirmed that fans can see the Carabao Cup in person on Thursday, April 11, though the venue for the event has been moved.

The event will now be held in the Metro Centre, in Newcastle city centre, by the JD store.

Photo opportunities will be available for four hours between 1 pm-5 pm.

What’s next for Newcastle after Carabao Cup triumph?

With the trophy monkey finally off Newcastle’s back, the club are certainly going to be aiming to add more silverware to their collection in the years to come. It’s hard to see it being another multi-decade wait.

Speaking on the pitch after the victory, Magpies chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan promised as much to fans.

He was seen in a video posted on social media holding the trophy in front of the supporters on the Wembley pitch and heard saying: “That’s the first and it’s not going to be the last!”

First and foremost, though, Newcastle’s top priority is to return to the Champions League and they are looking likely to do so.

They sit fifth in the Premier League table, level on points with a game in hand with Chelsea, and now know that fifth will see them qualify for Europe’s top competition.
