When Sandro Tonali is going to meet his new Newcastle United teammates

Sandro Tonali was officially announced as a Newcastle United player on Monday, and now he has finally landed on Tyneside.

While a deal was wrapped up before the Under-21 European Championship, the Magpies have only just confirmed the transfer, having delayed proceedings due to Tonali’s involvement in Romania.

But the move accelerated once Italy were knocked out, and Newcastle announced the arrival of the 23-year-old at the start of the week, much to the delight of Eddie Howe.

Now Tonali is in the North East, flying from Milan to Newcastle on Wednesday. He was pictured landing yesterday afternoon, before heading to St James’ Park and the club’s training ground.

We got our first glimpse of the £55million man in black and white stripes, and his first club interview is on the horizon.

The next thing for Tonali to do is meet his new teammates, and a report from the Daily Mail states that is just around the corner.

According to the Daily Mail, Tonali is going to fly back to Milan then return to meet his Newcastle United teammates next week.

Howe’s side are set to begin pre-season next week, with the Magpies’ first friendly scheduled for July 15th against Gateshead.

It is less than two weeks until Newcastle are in action again, and Howe will be bracing his players for another gruelling pre-season as he looks to build on the success of the previous campaign.

Given that Tonali has been with Italy at the Under-21 tournament, it felt likely that he would get an extended break before starting Toon training. However, it does not look like that will be the case.

Providing he has had adequate rest, that is excellent news. The sooner he starts the better. That will allow him to start integrating with the players before the trip to America later this month. That will be a great chance for Tonali to truly get to know his new teammates.
