One day you are scoring for your boyhood club Newcastle United to edge them closer to Champions League qualification, the next you are being complimented by WWE legend John Cena.

That is the life of Dan Burn right now, who is enjoying a wild 24 hours.

The Newcastle defender scored the Magpies’ second goal on Thursday night, helping Eddie Howe’s side on their way to a 4-1 win over Brighton. The result means that Newcastle need just one more win to guarantee their place in the top four this season.

It is another huge goal from Burn, who is making a habit of finding the net when it matters most.

The 31-year-old is simply someone you have to love and admire. He never thought he would have a Newcastle career, now he is a key player in a team that looks set to be in the Champions League next season.

From his dressing room dancing to the story about missing a finger, Burn is an incredible character who is idolised on Tyneside.

Away from the pitch, you see footballers drive flash and expensive cars that are funded by their extortionate wages.

But not Burn. He drives around in a Smart car, which is all the more comical due to his incredible size. While some find it funny, movie star and wrestler John Cena thinks it is commendable.

John Cena loves the car that Dan Burn drives

In the crossover that no one ever expected, Newcastle have released a video of Cena talking about Burn and his car of choice. Cena is currently doing media for Fast X, which is the latest film in the Fast And The Furious franchise.

“Nice, so I like this,” he said.

“Dan Burn owns a smart car and he is six foot seven. People are like ‘no way’.

“This is a conscious effort to make a statement, and that is why cars are like art. They’re expressions of who we are.

“This guy knows his self worth. He looks in the mirror every day and says ‘I’m enough and a fancy car doesn’t define me’.

“Dan Burn, nice flex.”

Another strange day in the world of Newcastle United

I don’t really know where to begin with this. It is worldwide superstar John Cena talking about the car that Newcastle United’s left-back drives.

In what has been an outrageous season for the Magpies, this might be the most shocking thing of all.

Maybe we will get to see Cena at St James’ Park one day, and Burn can take him for a spin!
