What Reece James shouted at Jason Tindall before red card vs Newcastle

St James’ Park remains a fortress for Newcastle United.

Even despite having to name three goalkeepers on the bench as the result of an injury crisis Joe Willock has recently added to, Newcastle put Chelsea to the sword as the Premier League returned.

This is a Blues side who recently thrashed Tottenham and drew with Manchester City but they simply could not match Eddie Howe’s side for intensity in the second-half.

Indeed, the visitors collapsed after the interval. Thiago Silva made a mistake and allowed Joelinton in to score the third while Chelsea skipper and England international Reece James was sent off.

Now, it has emerged James had words with a certain Jason Tindall even before his dismissal.

Reece James: What Chelsea star told Jason Tindall in Newcastle defeat

According to the Daily Mail, James shouted “sit down” to Tindall after he protested Joelinton’s booking before the break for a supposed arm in the face of the Chelsea star.

The Newcastle assistant manager, who certainly isn’t afraid of making headlines, was said to have been angry at the way James reacted, sparking an exchange between the two.

Tindall, however, had the last laugh as James was later sent off for two bookable offences.

Jason Tindall: A cult-hero at Newcastle

Not one to shy away from ruffling the feathers of opposition coaches, Tindall has earned something of a cult-hero status after memes of him supposedly hunting the spotlight emerged last season.

While reducing him to a wind-up merchant is probably somewhat unfair as it brings his coaching work down to solely antics, it can be a useful tool for Newcastle.

If Tindall is able to rile the opposition, perhaps he can force them into mistakes, such as James getting sent off for two cheap bookings.

Long may it continue for Tindall and Newcastle.
