Beating Everton is always rather sweet.
Indeed, it’s hard to ignore the presence of a certain Jordan Pickford in goal.
The former Sunderland goalkeeper obviously has a bit of history with Newcastle, as would be expected from a man who grew up supporting their biggest rivals.

While Thursday night’s win at Goodison Park meant far more in terms of edging ever closer to Champions League qualification, it’s always nice to get one over on Pickford.
The England stopper parried Joelinton’s shot right into the path of Callum Wilson for the opener and was all at sea for the second after Joe Willock had stood a cross up for the Brazilian.
Though Pickford could have done little for Wilson’s second nor to stop Jacob Murphy from adding a fourth after a stunning assist from Alexander Isak, he had hardly covered himself in glory.
What Jordan Pickford did in the tunnel after Newcastle beat Everton
Given the standing in which Pickford is held amongst sections of the Newcastle support, it’s always interesting to hear what he does when the Magpies inflict defeat on him.
Luckily, The Chronicle have provided some insight.
They claim Pickford was full of respect in the Everton tunnel and congratulated the Newcastle players for such a big win.
Easy to forget the friendship Pickford has with Newcastle players
A major part of the England squad, Pickford will have come across plenty of Newcastle players in recent months.
Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier have been involved in the last three major tournaments, while Wilson travelled to Qatar for the most recent World Cup.

Considering the bond Gareth Southgate has formed within the Three Lions squad to have taken them so far in recent years, that feels more important than the tribalism of club rivalry.
Still, for the fans at least, it’s always nice to get one over the former Sunderland stopper.
