Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is back after recovering from pneumonia.

The Magpies have been without Eddie Howe for their previous three games after the Newcastle United manager fell ill in the build-up to the Manchester United match.

It was confirmed that Howe was suffering from pneumonia, with Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones taking over first-team responsibilities in his absence.

They secured wins over Man United and Crystal Palace, before Newcastle lost to Aston Villa on Saturday evening.

Next up for the Magpies is Ipswich Town at St James’ Park, with Eddie Howe set to return to the Toon dugout.

Newcastle United staff surprised as Eddie Howe returns

The club have announced that Howe has resumed his managerial duties after being hospitalised.

According to the Telegraph, Howe took Newcastle United training on Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s game against Ipswich Town.

The Telegraph add that Newcastle United staff were surprised to see Howe back at the training ground on Wednesday morning. However, the Toon boss informed them that he had been away long enough after being absent for more than two weeks.

It is excellent news that Howe is fit and ready to return to work, while it is excellent news for Newcastle United and their Champions League aspirations. With five games to go, a return to Europe’s elite competition is still a possibility.

Howe’s return should give the Newcastle United players a boost, as they aim to bounce back from the defeat to Aston Villa. Newcastle are predicted to beat Ipswich, which would lift the Magpies back up to third in the Premier League table.

Newcastle United sweating on Fabian Schar

While Howe will be there for Newcastle United vs Ipswich Town, it remains to be seen if Fabian Schar will.

Schar injured his hamstring against Aston Villa, which resulted in him being substituted in the 82nd minute.

It is unclear whether or not he will be available to face Ipswich. Schar was not spotted in Newcastle’s training photos, as they Magpies prepare for Saturday’s game.

Hopefully Eddie Howe is able to provide a positive update on the 33-year-old when he addresses the media on Friday morning.
