What Alexander Isak is really like off the pitch at Newcastle United after outburst against Fulham

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is cool, calm and collected in front of goal.

The 25-year-old proved that on so many occasions last season, netting 25 goals for Newcastle United as he enjoyed the best season of his career.

Alexander Isak showcases real composure in the final third, and his finishing ability is why he is seen by a lot of people as the Premier League’s next best striker after Erling Haaland.

Dan Burn called Isak ‘world class’ at the end of last season, but we are yet to see him prove why he deserves that tag during the 2024/25 campaign.

Isak has scored just once for Newcastle, but it should be twice. Fabian Schar opted not to pass to Isak against Fulham last week when the Swede was in the perfect decision. Instead, Schar took the shot himself and lashed it wide, passing up the chance to make it 2-2.

Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever was furious. He could not hide his frustration, as he was denied the chance to score an easy goal.

Alexander Isak is laidback when he is not playing for Newcastle United

Isak is cool when it matters, but is certainly capable of letting out his emotions on the pitch when something does not go his way. Like the Schar incident last week, we have seen multiple occasions when Isak has not been happy about not receiving the ball. He lets his teammates know, that is for sure.

It showcases the competitive streak that runs through Isak’s veins – it is a competitive streak that takes over even when the striker is taking part in silly games for the club’s YouTube channel.

However, that outward frustration is not part of Isak’s day-to-day life.

According to the Athletic, people inside Newcastle United state that Isak is very laid back off the pitch and rarely expresses his emotions.

Newcastle might not be able to supply Alexander Isak against Manchester City

Isak’s frustration on the pitch comes from his elite mindset. He wants to score goals, and he knows he always can score goals. His ability to score goals is outstanding – Kieran Trippier has said Isak is ‘frightening’ in front of goal and likened him to Harry Kane.

The issue this season is that Newcastle are not providing Isak with enough chances. He has often been isolated up top, while that Schar mishap against Fulham rightly enraged the Magpies’ number 14.

While Newcastle need to supply Isak with more chances, they might not have to this weekend.

That is because Isak is a doubt to face Manchester City. He suffered a toe injury during the win over Wolves, and it almost ruled him out of the Fulham game.

That injury continues to linger, and it could cost Isak a place in the Newcastle United team this weekend.
