Newcastle United ended the most recent Premier League sprint with a 2-2 draw away at West Ham.
While it was disappointing to have been pegged back late on after Newcastle had taken the lead following a poor start in east London, it still kept some good form as Eddie Howe’s side got back on track.
Alexander Isak scored twice but duly had to come off injured, meaning Callum Wilson played in the final stages of the game despite not being totally fit himself.

Of Wilson’s cameo, friend and rival Michail Antonio has had something to say.
Michail Antonio criticises Callum Wilson’s performance against West Ham
Indeed, the West Ham forward records a podcast with Wilson and the two tend to send jibes to each other.
Antonio, probably somewhat tongue-in-cheek, suggests Wilson solely came on to win cynical fouls as Newcastle were looking to close out the game.
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, he said: “He comes on the field and they were winning 2-1, we bag and it’s 2-2. He just came on to give away fouls. Man was just giving away fouls all the time!”

Wilson was not at his best against West Ham
Though Antonio is presumably making a joke at an old friend’s expense, there is some merit into his view.
According to WhoScored data, Wilson gave away two fouls after coming on in the 85th minute.
Still, while not fully fit himself, there’s not really much else he could have done. Newcastle were in the lead and it’s not as if they were throwing everything at trying to score what would have been a decisive third.
Wilson’s record – particularly against West Ham – speaks for itself. Rest and recover over the international break and hopefully he’ll be back at his best for the games to come.
