The relentless nature of this season continues for Newcastle United on Sunday.

Only days after their stunning 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Eddie Howe’s side are set for another huge test.

A trip to West Ham awaits on Sunday, representing another huge game for Newcastle.

Three points on the road against a team who have started reasonably well this season would be a fantastic way to send Howe’s side into the international break.

It, however, will not be easy.

Nayef Aguerd sends warning to Newcastle ahead of West Ham clash

Indeed, Hammers defender Nayef Aguerd – who was linked with a move to St James’ Park – has fired a warning at Newcastle.

The Moroccan international insists his side do not fear Newcastle, having started this season well themselves.

“Newcastle are very, very tough to play, but we play at home, in front of our fans and I hope it’ll be a great afternoon for them. We’ll give everything to make them happy,” he told the Evening Standard.

“We’ve played big teams. City and Liverpool are some of the best teams in the world. We showed quality and unfortunately we had some details to erase. Now it’s behind us, we focus on the next games.

“We’re ready for Newcastle. In football, fear doesn’t exist. It’s an exciting game and those types of fixtures are the reason why I’m in the Premier League.”

This is a huge game for Newcastle

The challenge will be to follow up the emotional energy that took them to a huge win over PSG with another big performance only days later.

West Ham are in good form and boast a talented squad, many of whom won the Europa Conference League last season. Traveling to London to play a more than competitive team after such a draining evening is hardly ideal.

The mark of a good team, however, is being able to do that. Balancing the work load impacts all of the top teams Newcastle are trying to compete with, so it’s something they’re going to have to get used to.
