Alan Shearer has taken to social media to share his thoughts on tonight’s game as Newcastle United demolished Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
It’s 20 years since Newcastle last hosted a Champions League game at St James’ Park and Alan Shearer was among the squad in 2003.
Tonight the former Number nine was merely a spectator as Newcastle humiliated Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League group stage.
Newcastle had several key players missing but you’d never know
Newcastle were missing Joelinton, Callum Wilson, Sven Botman and Joe Willock but each player who stepped in to cover the injured foursome didn’t look remotely out of place in the starting lineup.
Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff were the two Geordies given the nod in the starting lineup and both repaid Eddie Howe‘s faith with a goal each.

Miguel Almiron and Fabian Schar were the other two goal scorers in a 4-1 victory that surely nobody saw coming.
Shearer is expecting a sore head in the morning
Alan Shearer clearly didn’t see it coming, and going of what he tweeted at full-time, he might not remember it tomorrow either as he posted on X (formerly twitter): “As days and nights go that’s a f——— Belta hangover coming!!! What a performance man.”
Shearer’s reaction pretty much summed up the thoughts of every Newcastle United fan after that performance. The entire team was excellent and made Paris Saint-Germain look decidedly average.

The productivity levels around Newcastle tomorrow are going to be extremely low. It might be better if they just cancel all work and close the schools because nobody is going to be in any fit state to do anything.
