Eddie Howe’s arrival at Newcastle United has had a big impact thus far. The club are unbeaten since last year in the league and haven’t lost in six Premier League outings.

The result against West Ham shows the belief the boss has been able to instill into the Magpies. Away from home, the Toon were able to grab a point as the match finished 1-1. Joe Willock netted just before half-time after going 1-0 down from a Craig Dawson header.

Newcastle had a few first-team blows heading into the clash last Saturday. Kieran Trippier was ruled out, and it’s not known when he’ll return. Allan Saint-Maximin and Javier Manquillo also suffered injuries meaning they missed the clash. Callum Wilson has missed all of 2022 so far, and could be out for the season.

Despite missing numerous key players, Howe has gotten results

Previous manager Steve Bruce didn’t get a single win in his third season in charge. His last game was a 3-2 defeat at home to Tottenham. He left St James’ Park with just three points on the board.

Since Howe was appointed, the Magpies have picked up 17 points and escaped the bottom three.

Without Trippier, Saint-Maximin and Manquillo they were able to get a point off top-four challengers West Ham. The results have pushed Newcastle further away from the drop zone.

This demonstrates the belief the squad now has in each other to get results. Often the Magpies have been seen as reliant on Saint-Maximin and Wilson to get results. Last season the Toon often relied on individual performances and moments of brilliance to avoid relegation.

But now we’re seeing better overall team performances. So while having those two makes Newcastle better, we’re not completely reliant on them at all times.

Players who’ve been at the club have vastly improved since Howe took charge. Joe Willock, Joelinton and Jonjo Shelvey look like a strong midfield trio for the Magpies.

Fabian Schar once again looks like a solid performer at the back. These players have more belief in them and it shows when they step onto the pitch.

The arrival of Howe has seen a much better Newcastle. He’s instilled belief which is shown by the improved performances on the pitch. The mentality when roadblocks are put in their way such as injuries doesn’t phase them as it did previously.
