A lot of Watford fans have admitted that they were lucky to draw with Newcastle United on Saturday.
It was a game that Newcastle needed to win, and should have won. The Magpies were dominant in the first-half, creating more chances than ever under Steve Bruce.
A Sean Longstaff strike from distance gave us the lead, but it shouldn’t have been our only goal of the opening 45 minutes.

Even in the second half we created chances, but were unable to extend our lead.
Our failures in front of goal gave Watford a chance, and they took it with both hands. Ismaila Sarr netted an equaliser, and gave the Hornets an unlikely point. They nearly snatched victory themselves, only for VAR to chalk off what Josh King thought was the winner.
Watford were incredibly lucky to get a point. If we had taken our chances, it could have been possibly the biggest win of Bruce’s tenure. We opened up the Hornets at will, but couldn’t apply the finishing touch.

Some Watford fans have complained about the Magpies’ time wasting, which earned Karl Darlow a yellow card. Why the goalkeeper was playing for time at 1-1 is anyone’s guess… Perhaps he wasn’t aware that we still haven’t won a single game this season.
Newcastle should have won, and Watford fans know they were lucky to get a point. But that’s no consolation for the Magpies, who incredibly climbed up to 17th place.
