‘Very interesting’… Newcastle set to get multiple bids for 26-year-old player this summer

Newcastle United are preparing to battle hard this summer to keep one of their key players who is expected to be in high demand.

The Magpies have a very special talent in Bruno Guimaraes and he’s not going to have a lack of suitors any time soon, so it’s about what Newcastle can do to persuade him to stay.

Journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport that there will be attempted to take the Brazilian away this summer, meaning Newcastle will have to work hard to keep him or sell at the highest possible price.

In the latest run of games Newcastle have had to rely on Bruno’s technical ability a lot of the time to help the team in attack with this current midfield lacking a bit of spark and creativity.

The 26-year-old has been performing brilliantly, popping up with three goals and an assist in his last three games as well as creating the last-minute Matt Ritchie equaliser against Bournemouth.

PSG and Barcelona have already shown an interest in the Brazilian international back in January and it’s very likely that that interest will remain throughout the summer, leaving question marks over his Newcastle future.

The Magpies won’t want the player to be unsettled, but ultimately it depends on what they can offer him come the end of the season with Champions League football now looking to be almost out of reach.

Jones on Guimaraes future: “Yeah, it’s great when you see him take games into his own hands and make a difference. We know that he is capable of this. But I think also actually, this is one of the things that makes Newcastle very interesting once we get to the summer transfer window because I think he’s priceless.

“The next transfer window is going to be interesting because I do think there will be offers to take him away from Newcastle.”

Newcastle’s record without Bruno is unbelievable

If there’s one player who Newcastle can’t really afford to sell at the moment it would probably be Bruno given how important he’s been to the team in the last couple of years.

He’s very rarely missed a game having played 72 out of the last 79 games, but in the seven that he’s missed Newcastle have failed to win any of them with three draws and four losses.

When he’s playing Newcastle also average 1.3 more goals per game, concede 0.2 fewer goals per game and 1.3 more points per game.

If an offer was to arrive in the summer of £100m, which is believed to be his release clause, there may even be arguments that it’s still not enough considering how much he brings to this Newcastle team.
