Allan Saint-Maximin has reportedly made a decision about his future, and it is good news for Newcastle United fans who want to see him stay at St James’ Park.

There has once again been speculation that Saint-Maximin could leave the club, which has been a regular occurrence ever since he arrived at Newcastle in 2019.

During the Steve Bruce era, rumours of him departing were met with fear. He was our talisman – often our only hope. But Eddie Howe has found a way to win without Saint-Maximin, leading to rumours that he could be let go.

The 26-year-old then caused more confusion with a lengthy Instagram post that appeared to suggest he was pondering a move away from Newcastle.

However, a new report from the Daily Mail states that Saint-Maximin wants to stay exactly where he is.

Saint-Maximin keen to stay at Newcastle this summer

According to the Daily Mail, Saint-Maximin does not want to leave Newcastle United this summer.

They report that he is eager to stay and fight for his place, and believes that competing in the Champions League can help him achieve his dream of representing the France national team. He has never played for his country at senior level, and had hoped to go to the World Cup last year in Qatar.

That did not happen, but there is no doubt that Saint-Maximin is capable of playing for the French side if he can put together a consistent run of form. On his day he is ‘unplayable‘ – a joy to watch who is worth the admission fee alone.

However, consistency has always been the issue. That has coincided with fitness, with Maxi struggling with multiple injuries during what was an incredible season for Newcastle United.

Hopefully he gets a good pre-season under his belt and can return to his best next season, because he is one of those players you just can’t take your eyes off when he is on form.

Toon fans love him, and it looks like they will continue to watch him in black and white when the Premier League returns in August.
