‘Unbelievable’ midfielder appeared to bid farewell to fans yesterday amid Newcastle interest

Bristol City’s season came to an end yesterday and Newcastle United-linked Alex Scott appeared to bid farewell to the fans at full-time.

Newcastle are amongst a host of Premier League clubs keeping an eye on Bristol City youngster, Alex Scott and it seems that the Robins have resigned themselves to losing the midfielder this summer.

A video from a Bristol fan on Twitter shows Scott being pushed forward into the spotlight to receive his personal adulation away from the rest of the squad. A move which suggests, and was indeed interpreted as, a farewell.

Robins boss Nigel Pearson isn’t giving up hope of keeping the ‘unbelievable‘ 19-year-old for at least another season, BBC Radio Bristol asked if he’d played his last game at Ashton Gate and Pearson said: “I hope not, I hope not. Tommy [Conway] says he hopes it’s not Scotty’s last as well because he shares a flat with him. He’ll be paying the full rate.”

“We were pulling his leg a little bit.”

Brighton and Liverpool are the latest Premier League clubs said to be keen to sign Scott, dubbed ‘The Guernsey Grealish‘. In fact, earlier this season, Scott came up against his namesake in the FA Cup and his performance drew praise from Jack Grealish and Pep Guardiola. Probably adding a hefty chunk of change to his price tag.

Hopefully Newcastle are working on this one away from prying eyes

Alex Scott has made 49 outings for the Robins this season in all competitions, scoring twice and providing five assists. On top of that he’s made five appearances for England Under 20’s.

The stories linking Newcastle to Scott have quietened down lately as other clubs declare their interest, but that doesn’t mean that Newcastle aren’t still in the mix. We know how Newcastle’s recruitment team like to operate in the dark.

Seeing all the hype around Scott, I really hope it is Newcastle who manage to liberate him from Bristol, his potential is off the charts.
