Newcastle United put in their best performance of the season against Arsenal on Saturday.
After an underwhelming start to the season, Newcastle were underdogs when Arsenal came to St James’ Park on the weekend.
However, like they have done throughout the season, Eddie Howe‘s side stepped up and caused an upset by beating the Gunners 1-0.
Newcastle have now beaten Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea this season while also taking points off reigning champions Manchester City.
Saturday’s win has lifted Newcastle up to 11th in the Premier League table and only three points off the top four positions.

Troy Deeney names Anthony Gordon in Team of the Week
After such a dominant performance from Newcastle against a title-chasing side, it is a surprise that only one player made the Team of the Week.
Troy Deeney named his lineup on BBC Sport on Tuesday morning, and the only Newcastle player included was Anthony Gordon.
The 23-year-old supplied a superb cross for Isak’s goal, but Howe was more pleased with Gordon’s attitude vs Arsenal.
After selecting Gordon in his side, Deeney wrote: “Newcastle are a better team when he is involved. He got an assist for Alexander Isak’s winner against Arsenal, but the way he drives with the ball and carries the team forward means he’s always a threat.
“He can be on the right, left or the middle – he’s just a wonderful football player for Newcastle and England.
“Getting injured and then missing a penalty against Everton could have knocked his confidence but didn’t. He’s straight back on the horse, straight at it – I can respect that.
Sean Longstaff and Lewis Hall unlucky to miss out
There is no denying Gordon deserves his spot in the side – he was excellent on the right and provided a moment of brilliance that ended up winning Newcastle the match.
His Newcastle teammates Sean Longstaff and Lewis Hall can consider themselves very unlucky to miss out after their standout displays on Saturday.

Longstaff was “magnificent” against Arsenal as he extended his unbeaten run as a starter this season. His energy and work rate in midfield has made Longstaff an unsung hero for Newcastle.
As for Hall, the 20-year-old is quickly becoming a superstar in this Newcastle team after excelling against Chelsea and Arsenal over the past week.
Alan Shearer was blown away by Hall, hailing the young left-back as “absolutely outstanding” after his display against Arsenal.
