Kieran Trippier is a huge admirer of Newcastle United’s big summer signing and is fully aware of his potential to grow into a star at the club.
It hasn’t been the start we’d all hoped for at Newcastle for Sandro Tonali after he burst onto the Premier League scene with a goal after just six minutes on his debut.
Eddie Howe revealed yesterday that the Italy international has only trained fully with the squad once in the past month thanks to international duty and the minor injury he picked up while away with Italy.
Kieran Trippier is very aware of Tonali’s capabilities
It goes a long way to explaining the slow start Tonali has made, but it’s far too soon to suggest that the 23-year-old is destined to be a flop.
We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from Tonali already, we know what a player we have on our hands and if we started to doubt it then Eddie Howe was on hand yesterday to provide reassurances.

So to is Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier who spoke to The Chronicle about Tonali, saying: “Sandro is absolutely quality and brings a lot of quality to our team.
When Bruno and Tonali click for Newcastle it will be magic
“I played against him many times before and knew it was an emotional occasion for him to come back to Milan this week. He spent so many years here and it was good for him to come back. But he’s a top player with huge potential.”

Hopefully Tonali has shaken off that niggle that kept him out of the Brentford game and he can now kick on in training with the squad and start to work on his on-field relationships with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes.
When those two start to click it is going to be something truly special.
