Victor Osimhen is one of the leading names during this summer’s transfer window.
Having fired Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 30 years, the Nigeria international continues to be linked with most of Europe’s top sides.
Indeed, recent reports even suggested Newcastle had made their move to sign the 24-year-old along with the likes of Manchester United.

As one of the biggest names playing in Europe today, the Osimhen saga will likely drag on and on.
Osimhen’s agent now set for Napoli talks
Now, we appear to be at the start point.
After the claims Newcastle were among the clubs to have contacted the striker’s agent, fresh reports from Italy have emerged.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio to Sky Sport Italia (via Arena Napoli), agent Roberto Calenda and Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis are set for talks.
It is claimed the Italian giants are not particularly open to selling the forward but a fee of between £103m-£111m could be enough to force their hand.
Man United, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are all mentioned in the report as rival potential suitors.
That is surely too much money for Newcastle
While few would doubt signing Osimhen – hailed as “the best striker in the world” by his agent – would be a major statement for Newcastle, it’s difficult to imagine they would consider getting involved at that kind of price point.

Eddie Howe has insisted the club will not have a bottomless pit to operate with this summer. While he’s hardly likely to come out and say the opposite even if it were true, spending so much money on one player does not fit in with the recruitment policy thus far.
At some point, Newcastle will surely have to start spending that big if they are to truly keep the pace with the elite in the long-term. This summer, however, feels slightly too soon.
