At last, there appears to be progress made for Newcastle United.
James Maddison has been a long-term target on Tyneside, with Newcastle having made bids to sign the Leicester playmaker last summer.
Once again, the England international is being touted as a target.

Thought to have been impressed by the atmosphere at St James’ Park and clearly someone Eddie Howe and the recruitment staff rate, that was only natural.
While there had been reports Maddison was tempted by the idea of a move to Tottenham, more recent claims suggest working with Howe and playing in the Champions League could sway the deal into Newcastle’s favour.
Over the coming days, there could be more developments.
Newcastle expected to bid for James Maddison in the coming days
Indeed, at last, it seems another offer is on the way.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are soon expected to make a fresh bid to sign the 26-year-old this summer.
Leicester, however, are reportedly digging their heels in. Even despite their relegation and the fact Maddison has just a year left on his contract at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes are ready to demand as much as £60m.

Positive to see progress at last
While last summer worked out brilliantly for the club, even the most positive of supporters would surely struggle to deny it proved frustrating.
Indeed, there were long periods in which Newcastle went without strengthening, with Alexander Isak eventually arriving after the start of the season.
Now, that of course is more a reflection on how difficult it is to deals rather than on anything at Newcastle in particular but it is hardly ideal.
Though it won’t be easy to get Maddison over the line given that valuation it is hugely positive to see some movement on that front potentially coming over the next few days.
