Newcastle United may face competition from Wolves to sign Hamza Choudhury on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder has been the Magpies’ number one target on August 31st, with claims earlier in the day that he would become Newcastle’s second signing of the summer.
However, then the deal was reportedly off.
The Choudhury rollercoaster continues though, with Sky Sports claiming that a move to St James’ Park could still happen.
Newcastle desperately need reinforcements, and Choudhury could be a decent addition to an underperforming midfield.
However, it now looks like we face competition from a Premier League rival.
Wolves look to Hamza Choudhury after Renato Sanches blow
According to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Wolves are struggling to complete a deal for Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.
He adds that Choudhury is a possible alternative to the Euro 2016 winner.
This is exactly the news Newcastle didn’t want. They’ve found it hard enough to complete a deal without competition.
We’ve been chasing him since January, yet still are unable to complete a deal. As always, Lee Charnley strikes again with his incompetence in the transfer market.
If Wolves do make a move for the 23-year-old, it feels certain he’ll end up at Molineux.
Choudhury desperately needs to go somewhere for first-team football. He’d get that at Newcastle, but wages are seemingly a stumbling block.
Wolves may be below Newcastle in the table, but they’re a much more exciting proposition. If you were Choudhury, where would you go?
