Should Steve Bruce resign as Newcastle United manager? That is the question on a lot of fans’ lips right now.
The Magpies have had a horrendous summer, and they don’t have long to rectify it.
The transfer window closes at 11pm this evening, but as it stands Joe Willock is our only first-team signing.
That’s hugely concerning, as it means our squad is actually weaker than it was last season. Considering we needed a late flurry of wins to survive, it looks like the writing could be on the wall.
With the clock ticking, there is reportedly still a chance that the midfielder could move to St James’ Park on loan. According to Sky Sports, the player’s wages is the reason the deal is in limbo.
Regardless of what you think about Bruce, he has been wildly let down by Mike Ashley.
Even from the opening three games, it is clear he needs reinforcements. Combine that with the poisonous atmosphere among fans and it’s a recipe for disaster.
A lot of supporters are saying the same thing – Bruce should resign.
However, it doesn’t seem likely. He’s lucky to have a Premier League job. No one else would take him.
Bruce did walk out of the Hull job back in 2016 because of frustration over transfers. He must be equally, if not more, frustrated at the current situation at St James’ Park.
Realistically, why should he stay at Newcastle? He’s not getting support from the owner. The majority of fans want him to leave, and that’s not going to change.
Supporters think Bruce should quit after how he’s been treated by Ashley, but know fine well that he won’t.
