Newcastle United have some special players, but Eddie Howe believes he has one that makes everyone feel better.
While Kieran Trippier is his voice on the pitch and Alexander Isak is the man who puts the ball in the net, Howe believes it is Bruno Guimaraes who is Newcastle United’s talisman.
The 26-year-old is playing at an elite level right now, producing spectacular performance after spectacular performance. No matter the opponent or the competition, Bruno is the Magpies’ main man.
He is in excellent form ahead of Saturday’s game against Luton Town, where Newcastle will look to improve on what is a very poor away record so far this season.
Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media ahead of the match at Kenilworth Road, and reserved some special praise for his Brazilian superstar.
Eddie Howe thinks Bruno Guimaraes is Newcastle’s ‘talisman’
During his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Luton, Howe praised Bruno Guimaraes for making those around him better.
“Bruno is leading by example,” he said.
“And we need him to. He’s a talisman for us. He’s charismatic. I think a lot of the players feel more confident when Bruno is by their side.
“He’s a top player.”

Multiple players have improved alongside Bruno Guimaraes
Howe thinks there are some members of his squad who are more confident when Bruno is in the team.
You would have to include Sean Longstaff in that camp. They are two players who get the best out of each other, with Bruno noticeably improving at the start of the season when Longstaff returned to the starting XI.
Joelinton and Miguel Almiron are two more players who probably get confidence from being in the same team as Bruno. The South American connection has become so much stronger since Bruno arrived, with the former Lyon man having a seismic impact on Tyneside.
Not only does Bruno do incredible things on a football pitch, he also helps those around him do incredible things.
Just like Trippier, Bruno has raised standards at St James’ Park, and he certainly is the Magpies’ talisman. We are a much worse team when he is not involved, which is something that does not bear thinking about.
