Newcastle United’s Under-23s side were torn apart by 16-year-old Luke Harris on Monday night.
The Magpies’ youth side faced Fulham in Premier League 2 action, and were on the end of an absolute hammering courtesy of their London counterparts.
Fulham raced into a three goal lead within the first 11 minutes. Harris tortured the Newcastle defence in the early stages, finding the net in the second, third and 11th minute.

It took him nine minutes to score a hat-trick, before his Fulham teammates got in on the fact themselves. It was 6-0 to Fulham shortly after half time, before Newcastle’s 2021 signing Charlie Wiggett netted a consolation goal for the Magpies.
The Premier League 2 Division 2 leaders taught Newcastle a listen, heading back down south with the three points after the 6-1 annihilation.
Special night for Luke Harris
All the talk after the game was about Harris. The teenager’s hat-trick set the tone for chastening night for Newcastle. Following the win, Harris wrote on Twitter: “Buzzing to score a Hatrick last night.”
It was a particularly special night for the Fulham youngster, who is actually a fan of the Magpies despite not being from the region.
Harris was born in Jersey in 2005. His social media is awash with Toon mentions, making it perhaps bittersweet that he scored three goals past the club he loves.
Based on last night’s performance, he’s certainly one for the future. And if he lives up to his potential, perhaps we could see him play for the team he supports down the line.
